Seaside Visitor Information
Public Parking in Seaside
Parking is not too difficult in Seaside, if you know where to look. During the Fall, Winter and Spring months, parking can usually be found along the streets. However, if it is Summer or there is a special event taking place, you might have better luck trying one of the public parking lots. The lot next to the convention center (between 1st Ave and Oceanway, one block North of Broadway) is free to the public and provides easy access to the downtown shops. Public parking is also available on the first two levels of the Trendwest parking garage. To access this parking garage, go West on Avenue 'A' (one block South of Broadway), and you'll see the entrance on the right about 1/2 block from the beach. More parking, as well as RV parking is also available along Necanicum Drive. Necanicum Drive runs along the West side of the Necanicum River North of Broadway.
Public Transportation
Transportation via "The Bus", which runs throughout Clatsop County. is available to the public. For schedules, routes and more information call toll free 1-800-776-6406 or 861-RIDE. You can also visit their website at www.ridethebus.org. Another public transportation option is the Seaside Streetcar, which runs mostly during the summer months. Just signal/flag down the driver and let them know where you'd like to go!
Handicapped-Accessible Activities
Many businesses in Seaside are handicapped accessible, including restaurants, shops, malls, and other attractions. The 2-mile long, flat, paved beachfront promenade is also accessible to people with wheelchairs and strollers. Wheel Fun Rentals on N. Columbia in Seaside offers rentals of "Sand-chairs", wheelchairs that you can take on the beach. You can also rent a "Sand-chair" from Cannon Beach Surf, access the beach behind their shop, and visit the tidepools at the base of Haystack Rock (be sure go during low tide). Ecola State Park is a great place to enjoy spectacular views and wildlife, as are many of the other parks in the area. An excellent place to visit is the Cove, located less than 1 mile from Microtel. Here you can watch the waves, surfers, sunsets, birds and other wildlife, all from the comfort of your own vehicle, or from the benches at Seltzer Park.
